Evin Agassi also known as Evin Aghassi (Syriac: ܐܝܒܢ ܐܓܣܐ), is an Assyrian singer that has become one of the most prolific Assyrian singers releasing close to 30 albums during his career.[1]
Agassi was born in Kermanshah, Iran. He became involved in the Iranian national radio since his teen years where he recorded a number of records in Persian.[2]. Before joining with his brother Evin Agassi has also worked with many former Assyrian writers and composers, some which were in radio Iran like, Zacharia George, Daniel Benjamin, Edmond Zoomalan, Vania David, Eskander, Belis Daniel, Skharya Gevargis and Ewan Gewargis. While in radio Iran Evin Aghassi also sang Persian songs, which became hits at the time, one noticeable song dates back to 1974 entitled SHAHRZAAD which was loved by many Iranians. He later joined his brother the songwriter Gevargis Agassi and together they started releasing Assyrian albums in 1979.[2]
He settled in the United states soon after the Islamic Revolution of Iran where he continued releasing albums with his brother. He also gives concerts regularly in the United states, Europe and the Middle East.
